Our Journey
Northern Crescent Iron started the same way many of the great small companies that our nation is built upon have started. One man, in his garage, with a dream to make a living doing something that he loves.
Matt Waldrop, founder of Northern Crescent Iron, and the man with the dream to modernize blacksmithing and show the world the beautiful and artistic side of iron working, started our great company on it’s path in 2002.
Today, with a full line of knives and bottle openers from sleek and simple to elaborate and intricate, an extensive line of kitchen & bathroom hardware, beautifully designed railings and artwork and more, all made with revolutionary new tools and systems, his dream is being realized. Now our team continues to expand and grow while teaching and mentoring local youth to fulfill their dreams and keep the great art of blacksmithing alive.
Meet Northern Crescent Iron – A Uniquely-Specialized Team Who Cares
At NCI, we are professional team of blacksmiths, welders, fabricators and apprentices. We sell a variety of products from personalized groomsman gifts made from railroad spikes, hand-forged cabinet hardware, sculpture, furniture, and custom architectural ironwork such as railings and gates. All of our products are 100% handmade and hand-forged. We also offer CNC plasma cutting and welding services. We can cut parts and fabricate structural components for light industry and residential / commercial construction.
Our team loves creating ironworks using an old world process in a new world way. Made in North Carolina, and sourced and created in the USA, you can rest assured that every product is hand-forged by our local team and finished with care.

Jeremy met founder Matt Waldrop and joined NCI in 2008. Working long hard hours beside Matt learning, only fueled his passion for the trade. Jeremy continues to use the skills and processes handed down to him, while developing his own artistic style. He is a devoted husband and father and the leader of our great team.
